God’s Favor is for God’s Glory, Not Ours
1 Samuel 18 | Eric Hovis | 5/31/26
Today we continue in our series, Who is King?, in 1 Samuel. In chapter 18, we see David and Jonathan’s friendship blossom and Saul’s first attempt to kill David. Despite the danger David finds himself in, God’s favor is upon him and he prospers in all he does, including defeating 200 Philistines to secure his marriage to Saul’s daughter Michal.
Pastor Eric shares three points as we work through the text:
1) Friendship: Sacrificial connection reflects God’s glory in friendship.
2) Favor: God’s presence accomplishes God’s purposes for God’s glory.
3) Foe: Fearful hearts oppose God’s glory and purpose.
