Why Does the Church Need the Holy Spirit? (part 1)

Acts 2:14-21 | Eric Hovis | 8/24/25

This week, we begin a miniseries within our Why Church? series, focusing on the question, “Why does the church need the Holy Spirit?”. In chapter 2:1-13 of Acts, we hear the first several verses of Peter’s sermon at Pentecost, focusing on the words of the prophet Joel.

Pastor Eric shares three takeaways from the text:

1) The church needs the Spirit for vision, direction, and encouragement (vs. 17-18).

2) The church needs the Spirit to endure to the end.

3) The church needs the Spirit for the lost to be saved (vs. 21).
