21 DAYS OF PRAYER & FASTING
Each year leading up to Easter we choose to spend an intentional time in prayer and fasting as we seek to see God move mightily on Easter Sunday and beyond. Our 21 days kicks off on March 16th and we pray you will join us!
Below you will find some information and resources on prayer and fasting, as well as our prayer prompts for each day.

HOW DID 21 DAYS OF PRAYER & FASTING BEGIN?
Hear the story from Pastor Eric below!
The very first Easter for New City Church was celebrated online during the COVID lockdown. A small group of discouraged pastors didn’t know what to do, so we decided to pray and fast together for 21 days leading up to Easter. 0 baptisms. No Easter outfits. Online hand raising emojis were just depressing. From the outside looking in, it was the saddest Easter ever. But during those 21 days of prayer and fasting, God did a work in my own heart that was remarkably transformative. The other pastors had similar experiences. In 2021, we decided to pray and fast together again. In 2022, I invited others at New City to join me. In 2023, we called for church wide prayer and fasting - praying for 10 baptisms with 0 confirmed. We corporately prayed and we corporately fasted, and 10 minutes after our Easter service, we baptized our 10th person.
HOW CAN I PRAY?
At the bottom of this page you will find prayer prompts for each of the the 21 days. Simply click on the corresponding day and pray the suggested points. You can pray out loud, silently, as a family or with a friend, or even by prayer journaling!
Check out this Prayer Guide written by our pastors to help you pray intentionally.
WHAT IS FASTING?
Fasting is the practice of abstaining from food (or another gift from God) that leads us to spend intentional time seeking the Lord in prayer. If you’re interested in learning more, take a look at this previous sermon that highlights fasting!
Starting March 16th, we are stepping into a powerful season of prayer. As a church, we are committing to join together in prayer for 21 days, begging God to move in our lives and the lives of those around us.
We invite you to join us for these next 21 days as we seek the Lord together!

Pray for: Authentic Relationships
We pray that every person at New City Church is known through deep and authentic relationships. This is how we show love to one another in knowing each other deeply. Here are some points to pray for the people at New City:
Pray that we each would cultivate new and existing relationships in our lives
Every person at New City would experience authentic relationships that point them to Christ
Pray that we would be intentional in knowing those around us at work, home and in our community
-
Pray for: College, Students, and Kids Ministries
At New City, we are partnering with families as they raise up the next generation of disciples, disciple-makers, church planters, and missionaries. Through our partnership with families, we aim to see those in our Kids and Students ministries begin to follow Christ and embark on a lifetime of growing and following Him.
Our college ministry is focused on reaching the University of South Florida because by reaching the campus, we can reach the world. We are praying to reach over 1% of the campus in the next few years.
Ways to pray for these ministries:
Pray that we would see the next generation of disciples, disciple-makers, church planters, and missionaries raised up through our Kids, Students, and College ministries.
Pray with us that we would see kids choose to follow Christ at an early age and that we would be faithful in discipling those God has brought to New City Church.
Pray that we would reach 1% of the University of South Florida with the gospel over the next 5 years.

Pray: Isaiah 52:1-12

Pray for: The Poor and The Orphaned
We see in Scripture that we are called to pray for those afflicted by the brokenness of the world we live in. In this fallen world, we witness poverty and fatherlessness. We often grieve with those who have lost loved ones. We know that God cares deeply for the orphaned and the poor. Here are ways you can pray for the poor and orphaned in our community:
Pray that those who are without would find solace and comfort in the Lord, God, who is over all. Pray that He would provide what they need and that they would know they are loved. (Psalm 82:3-4)
Pray that we would have hearts that not only love with words but also with our actions, seeking to uplift the hurting. (1 John 3:17-18)

Pray for: 3 to 5 People Who Are Far from Christ but Close to You
We all have our own circles of influence where we come in contact with others that don’t know Jesus. Whether that be within your family, a gym buddy, coworkers, or parents of your kids’ friends, take today to pray for them. Here are some ways to pray:
Pray that God would soften their heart to the truth of the gospel
Pray for opportunities to share the gospel
Pray that God would encounter them in an undeniable, personal way
Pray that they would attend service on Easter Sunday

Pray for: 500 First Time Guests in 2026
This year, we are seeking to see 500 first-time guests come through the doors of New City Church. This goal isn't simply about having 500 people; it represents 500 individuals who may not know Christ hearing the gospel proclaimed. We want to reach our city with the Good News of Jesus, and part of that is inviting people into the body of Christ.
Ways to pray:
Pray that God would bring 500 new people to New City to hear the gospel this year, perhaps for the first time
Pray that God would ignite a burden for the lost in the hearts of our people, and that they would invite others and share the gospel
Pray that first-time guests would experience the love of Christ and find connections and community with God’s people

Pray for: Salvations & Baptisms
Each Sunday, we preach the Word of God and trust that He is bringing someone into His family through the proclamation of His Word - whether through a sermon or the sharing of the gospel. We exist as a church to see Jesus change lives, and we pray earnestly for that to become reality.
Ways to Pray:
Pray that we would see the lost saved and baptized
Pray that those who are far from God would be brought near to Him through the blood of Christ - and that we at New City would be witnesses to the power and love of God in the lives of those around us
Pray that God will save our friends, families, and coworkers who do not yet know Him
-
Pray for: Intentional Discipleship
A value at New City Church is that we would pursue and see intentional discipleship taking place. We want to see a movement of disciples making disciples, and in order for that to happen, we must be intentional with our discipleship. Let us keep our eyes on Jesus, following His commands to teach one another His commands and love as He has loved.
Ways to Pray:
Pray that we would see people be known and led to follow the teachings and commands of Scripture
Pray that each person at New City would be intentional with someone in raising them up into maturity in Christ
Pray that we would see people grow in their faith through being known and discipled
-
Pray for: The First Impressions Team & City Groups
The First Impressions Team and City Groups play important roles in the life of New City. The First Impressions Team serves faithfully each week to welcome those who are new to New City and seeks to show them the love of Christ. City Groups provide spaces for people to build deep relationships, be known, and grow in their faith. These groups meet weekly and are led by our City Group leaders.
Pray that God continues to use these ministries for His glory and for advancing the gospel:
Pray for our First Impressions Team, that God would use them to show the love of Christ to all who come to New City, making each person feel welcome and valued
Pray for our City Group leaders, that God would continue to use them to help those in their groups grow in their faith and knowledge of Jesus, fostering deeper relationships and community
Pray that City Groups would be a place of intentional discipleship, where we stir one another to good works and encourage one another toward abiding in Christ (John 15:5; Hebrews 10:24)

Pray: Isaiah 52:13-53:12

Pray for: The Widow and The Unwed Mother
With the desire to love like Jesus, we want to pray for widows and unwed mothers in our community. These individuals often experience loneliness and face financial and physical needs. Throughout Scripture, we see that God deeply cares for widows and those who are often overlooked. He commands His people to care for those whom society tends to ignore. In doing so, we get to reflect God’s intentional and deep love for every individual. Here are some ways to pray:
Praise God that He is Father to the fatherless and Protector of widows (Psalm 68:5).
Pray for the widows and unwed mothers in our community - that they would experience the comfort of the Lord, that they and their children would be protected and have their needs met. Pray that they would come to know the Lord by experiencing His love through His people (Psalm 10:17–18).
Pray for our church to have eyes to see the needs in our community, and to take action—to do good, seek justice, and care for the overlooked (Isaiah 1:17).

Pray for: 10 New Families in 2026
As we seek to be Rooted to Multiply in 2026, we are praying for more families to become regular and involved attendees of New City Church. We want to reach whole families with the gospel, and see them become rooted in authentic relationships, receive and give intentional discipleship, and gain a missional urgency to reach the lost.
Ways to Pray:
Pray for the parents at New City Church to be bold in sharing Christ with other parents they meet in our community
Pray for new families to attend our egg hunt tomorrow, and that they’d come back on Easter Sunday
Pray that as we have new first-time families, that they would feel the love of Jesus through New City Church
-
Pray for: Salvation & Baptism
We pray that the Spirit of God would work through the Word of God, opening hearts to believe the gospel.
Pray that we would have a burning in our hearts to share the gospel
Pray for 5 to 10 friends, family members, co-workers, or classmates to come, hear, and believe
Pray for baptisms on Easter Sunday
-
Pray for: Missional Urgency
One of our core values at New City church is missional urgency. This exists because of local and global lostness. There are people in our neighborhoods, classes, workplaces, communities, and around the world who do not have saving faith. When God captivates our hearts with the gospel, He gives us a new identity and a new mission: to see the lost saved and to disciple them into their new identity and mission:
Pray that our hearts would be broken for the lost
Pray for opportunities to proclaim the gospel
Pray for our overseas missionaries; that God would give them endurance and that He would soften hearts as they labor for the gospel
-
Pray for: The Tech & Worship Teams
Beyond the preaching of God's Word, our Worship and Tech ministries form the heartbeat of New City's Sunday services. We give thanks to the Lord for calling gifted individuals to these vital roles - those who lead our congregation in worship through music and those who support our church's mission through their technical expertise. While these ministries often require practical skills - mastering musical arrangements, operating sophisticated equipment, and solving technical challenges - we pray that their true strength would come not from technical proficiency alone, but from a deep delight in the Lord.
Let us pray, asking that:
Their ministries would flourish from the overflow of their relationship with Christ
Their talents would be multiplied for Kingdom impact
New members would be called to join the Tech and Worship ministries
Their behind-the-scenes faithfulness would bear abundant fruit in the church and in their own lives

Pray: Luke 24:1-12

Pray for: The Refugee
To put it simply, a refugee is a person who has been forced to leave their country in order to escape war, persecution, or natural disaster. Refugees are one of the most vulnerable people groups and are acutely aware of their need for help. Our prayer is for safety in the midst of danger for these people. Additionally, we pray that God would shine His bright light and send eternal salvation in spite of the vast darkness and loss that refugees have endured.
Pray that refugees would encounter believers who will share the hope of the Gospel with them, and that they would receive salvation through Christ Jesus
Pray that refugees would find protection and healing amidst the brokenness of their lives
Pray that Jesus would come back soon and eliminate the presence and pain of sin!

He is Risen!
Pray for: Salvations and Baptisms on Easter Sunday
Today marks the day of the resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! Death was forever defeated, sorrow turned to joy, and our hope is secured for eternity. We rejoice today because Jesus took all the wrath we deserved and bore our sin and shame on the cross. Now, because of Him, if we place our faith in Him, we can live in freedom and spend eternity with our Maker. Our lives are forever changed!
While Christians rejoice today, most of the world does not yet know the true significance of Easter. Pray today that many who have never believed would hear about the hope of Jesus and His resurrection - that they too would come to share in this rejoicing with us:
Pray that Christians all over the world would boldly proclaim the resurrection of Christ to the unbelievers around them
Pray that God would send unbelievers to New City today to hear of the resurrection and that He would soften their hearts to receive salvation by faith
Pray that we would witness an overwhelming number of salvations and baptisms through New City on Easter Sunday!
